Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 October 2026

1. Who we are

Island Living is an Abu Dhabi-based community information and promotional platform sharing events, businesses, activities and lifestyle updates across Saadiyat Island and the wider Abu Dhabi area. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit our website, contact us, submit content, or interact with our community channels. Island Living is operated by NUS NUS SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT, Abu Dhabi, UAE, which is the legal operator of Island Living and the entity responsible for personal data.

2. Information we collect

Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect your name, business or organisation name, email address, phone number, social media handle, submitted event or business details, photographs and videos, messages and correspondence, and information you choose to include in forms. Our hosting or analytics providers may collect technical data such as IP address, device/browser information and usage events, depending on the tools enabled on the website. Please do not submit sensitive personal data or information about children unless strictly necessary and appropriately authorised.

3. Why we use personal data

We use data to review and respond to submissions; contact contributors; create and publish authorised listings and posts; manage enquiries and collaboration requests; operate and secure our website; keep necessary records; and send marketing communications where lawfully permitted. We rely on consent where required and other lawful grounds available under applicable UAE law. Providing data for a submission does not automatically subscribe you to promotional messages.

4. Content submitted for publication

Information you specifically authorise us to publish—such as a business name, public business contact information, event details, social media handle, and approved imagery—may appear on our website, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp communities and related channels. Do not submit another person's private contact details, likeness or other personal data without the necessary permissions. Our separate Content Submission Terms govern editorial rights and content permissions; this Privacy Policy governs personal data.

5. Who may receive your data

We may share necessary information with website hosts, email and form providers, technical support, security or analytics vendors, and social-media or messaging platforms when approved content is posted. We may also disclose data to authorities where legally required or to professional advisers when necessary. We do not sell personal data. Third parties may process information under their own policies when you use their platforms.

6. WhatsApp and social media

Content you voluntarily post in WhatsApp groups or public social-media comments may be visible to other participants. Your use of these channels is also governed by the relevant platform's privacy terms. Avoid posting private addresses, phone numbers or photographs of other people without permission. We may moderate community content under our group rules.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website may use essential cookies for functionality or security and may use analytics or other optional technologies if configured. Details of the actual cookies and vendors should be provided in a cookie notice or consent interface where required. Non-essential tracking should not be enabled before implementing any consent mechanism required by applicable law. You may also control cookies through browser settings.

8. International service providers

Some website, email, cloud or social-media service providers may process data outside the UAE. When cross-border transfers occur, we will assess and apply the safeguards or other conditions required under applicable UAE data-protection law.

9. How long we retain data

We retain data only for as long as needed for the relevant purpose, such as responding to enquiries, managing submissions or publications, resolving disputes, maintaining appropriate business records, and meeting legal obligations. We periodically review records and delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed, subject to legal retention requirements. Removal of published information from our own channels may not remove copies independently shared by others.

10. Data security

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures designed to prevent unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Access to personal information should be restricted to people who need it for platform operations.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, you may request information about the personal data we process, access or portability where applicable, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction or cessation of certain processing, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis for processing. You may also object to direct marketing and raise a complaint with the relevant UAE supervisory authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

12. Children's information

The website is intended primarily for adults submitting business, community and event information. We do not intentionally seek personal information directly from children. Where content includes children's photographs or personal information, the submitter must ensure all necessary parental or guardian permissions and other legal requirements have been met.

13. External links

Our website may link to external websites, booking pages and third-party services. We do not control their privacy practices. Please review their privacy notices before providing personal information.

14. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy to reflect operational, technological or legal changes. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or seek renewed consent.
